It is hard to convey Bangkok with photos. It is an assault on the senses (size, smells, heat, sounds) . BUT ! do not be tempted to retreat to an air conditioned hotel. Instead you should go out and soak up all the carbon momoxide by taking a ride on the back of a motor bike taxi driven by a 15 year old at 50 miles an hour on the wrong side of the road while weaving in and out between busses and other large fast moving vehicles. Nothing like it to wake you up in the morning. Only eat the stuff you do not recognize (tip: have beer to hand incase it is rank). At night go to as many bars as you can in the wildest part of Bangkok. the scams are numerious so dont go there without reading the lonley planet. the dogs you see in the photos belonged to the owner of the hotel I stayed in (tip: Stay with the locals). The photos from the plane show the smog layer that hangs over the city constantly.
