Taken early in 2009 this is a collection of photos from a very cold Prague in Feburary. I think it was almost -6 C when taking the night shots. The area around the castle was deserted so I got a great opportunity to catch a good sense of the place. Later that same night we headed to some traditional cheque pubs - I wish I had some photo's of pubs used by the locals as they are soooo different to those used by the tourists (and quarter the price) - but I thought the better of pulling out a camera as that would have given up the gig. There is so much to see in the city for those that are willing to spend a lot of time walking. Personally I think it is a night city in that it is at it's best by night when it starts to quieten down. If you plan to visit Prague I recommend you read up on the history of the city first - it helps makes sense of the layers of archtecture you will encounter (hinted in the pictures). The mountains are a few hours drive outside the city - I rented the ski's from a small shop that was in the basement of an appartment block in the city - cheap, efficient, cheerful and very enterprising, like much of the city (outside of tourist areas). A big thank-you to Ludmilla and Tom (my hosts while visiting). Tom - I'll sort you out for that bottle of Jameson the next time I'm visiting !
